成军已过１５载的英国乐团Ｊａｍｅｓ在２１世纪的新专集“Ｐｌｅａｓｅｄ Ｔｏ Ｍｅｅｔ Ｙｏｕ”让人们大吃一惊。他们既不是像８０年代那么动态，也不像９０年代那么静态。他们显然在摸索一种更沉着更清醒的状态。专集第一首“Ｓｐａｃｅ”是一首形势非常复杂的作品，它的结构就像一部电影配乐，键盘稳稳地占了上风，合唱则巧妙地变成了Ｂｏｏｔｈ节奏的一部分。后半段竟与近期越来越舞曲化的英国进步团体Ｐｒｉｍａｌ Ｓｃｒｅａｍ十分靠近。
Ｂｏｏｔｈ的想象力还是极为精密，他对生命彼此疏离的漠然发出了警告。Ｂｏｏｔｈ的声音是变化多端的，但它们又完全自然地生长在Ｊａｍｅｓ柔软而紧密的结构中。在这张专集里，Ｊａｍｅｓ唱起快歌来显得更积极、也更振奋人心。不过，这并不是一张最尖端或最时髦的唱片，它的节奏与时代的秒针不太合拍，因为有时候在“Ｇｉｖｅ Ｉｔ Ａｗａｙ”这样的歌里，你可以更自觉地回忆起Ｂｏｂ Ｄｙｌａｎ的民谣岁月。
