To remember the first interview I had - HSBC GLTc
      Target company: HSBC GLTc
      Date: 2007.11.6
      Time: 14:35
      Language: Cantonese & English
      General cotent as follows.
      P.S. Letter "J" represents Jackson Yu and "M" represents me.
(In Cantonese)
J :" As I found out in your application form, you are from YunFu city. So, I think you speak cantonese, right?"
M:" Yep."
J :" So, er, you have passed CET-6. I would like to talk to you in English for a while."
M:" OK."
(In English)
J :" Your marks are very good. Why don't you further your education for a master degree?"
M:" In the past three years, I have learnt some basic knowledge and skills of software development. Further more, I have participated in some different kinds of projects from which I have got lots of experience and learnt how to communicate with other persons in the team. So, I think I am all ready to start my IT career. And besides, the best way to learn is to work. That's why I am here, purchasing this offer."
(Since my pronounciation is not bad, I saw Jackson nodding his head.)
J :" Ok, now, tell me your plan in the following 3 years."
M:" Are you asking me about the career plan?"
J :" Any plan you wanna talk about."
(Since I had prepared for answering the question about career plan, so I talked about my career plan.)
M:" For the time being, I would like to be a system programmer, but eventually, with my previous experience and ability, I would be ready for the project leader position in about 5 years. As I know from the advertisement, in HSBC GLTc, someone who wants to be the project leader has to become the IT Officer first. And, It takes at least 2 years for an SAP to become an IT Officer. So, In the first 2 years, I would try every effort I can to perform well, drill in the technology that HSBC GLTc needs, improve my English communication ability and learn some management skill. With my effort and ability, I am confident enough about that, my goal will be finally be achieved."
J :" Maybe, it's not so possible for you to learn about management in the first 2 years because you have your own coding assignment to finish."
M:" Oh? I am confident about my self-study ability. Maybe, I can read some related books when I am free."
J :" Ok. Tell me one project you have participated in and you are very proud of."
M:" It's a project offered by Zhongshan University Software Development Company. We called it music player on FPGA..."
(I was not finished, Jackson stopped me.)
J :" What is FPGA?"
M:" FPGA is a chip, like a piece of paper, on which you can draw whatever you like. A start, a circle, anything you like."
J :" You finished the project on your own?"
M:" Nope, by our team."
J :" How many people were there in your team?"
M:" Eight."
J :" Which position did you hold?"
M:" There were eight positions in my team.."
(Jackson interrupted me again.)
J :" 8 positions? So, different person held a different position?"
M:" Yep."
J :" Wow..So, tell me the eight positions. What are they?"
M:" PMA, project manager assistant. SA, system analyst. SD, system design. BA, bussiness analyst. TS, technology support. SCM, software configuration management, Testor...er...(Thinking about the last one)"
(Jackson was writing while I was speaking.)
J :" There are only seven positions. What is the other?"
(Jackson repeated the 7 positions I tole him while I was thinking hardly.)
M:" Oh, QA, quality assurance."
J :" What's SCM's responsiblity about?"
M:" Responsible for document management by using a typical tool, called VSS2003."
J :" Ok, now, tell me which position did you hold?"
M:" I was the bussiness analyst who was resbosible for requirement analysis, some coding and project presentation."
J :" Oh? You were the bussiness analyst, but you were responsible for coding?"
M:" Yep. Because few people in my team could code, I was resposible for a module's coding work."
J :" Ok. You took a testing course in your university life?"
M:" Yep."
J :" Testing is a new course?"
M:" Yes, it's."
J :" What did you learn in this course?"
M:" Some testing skills, such as white-box testing, black-box testing and so on."
J :" What is white-box testing about?"
M:" Refer to some code testing."
(Actually, I don't konw how to answer this question. So, I gave hime an answer shortly.)
J :" Ok, so, when can you go to work?"
M:" Actually, I can go to work right now if you can give me the offer. Maybe for most of the students, they have to spend a lot of time on the graduated project. As for me, since I have figured out what kind of project I should do and finished most of the design last term. So, I think I am free enough to go to work right now."
J :" Really? What kind of project?"
M:" Yuan Cheng Chao Biao Xi Tong."
(I didn't know how to express it in English. So, I spoke in Putonghua instead.)
J :" Tell me about your design."
M:" Can I speak in Cantonese?"
J :" Sure, go ahead."
M:" .... "
(Speak in Cantonese because it's really difficult to describe such a technical project.)
(In English again.)
J :" Students like you from ZhongShan University always get hands of offers. Will you choose HSBC GLTc if I give you the offer?"
M:" I am pleased to tell you "yes" with out any hesitation. HSBC GLTc is an idle company for me."
J :" OK, do you have any questions to ask me?"
M:" How long do I have to wait before I know I pass the interview or not?"
J :" 2 weeks."
M:" Am I allowed to apply for this job again before my graduation if I fail this time?"
J :" You are not confident to pass?"
M:" Ofcourse I am, just in case."
J :" Er.. If you are qualified enough, you are welcome all the time."
M:" Thank you for your time and your consideration. I have no more questions, thank you."
J :" Ok, you can leave now, thank you for coming."
(Stood up, walked out, closed the door, checked out, and left)
      After about 7 days' heart-breaking waiting, I recieved the offer. I was so happy that I stopped all my job-hunting movements. Because, HSBC GLTc is a perfect choice for me and I love working in it.
      However, I didn't pass the medical-examination because of a very tiny problem about my heart. So, eventually, I can not join HSBC GLTc which offers me 5355RMB per month.
      Pity or not, I don't know. Maybe some other company can provide me a better chance to develop myself in the round. Life is tough, but it has to go on. Let's go and see and wish everybody good luck..

It's a sensational performance.I would love to participate in an interview in English,but the company I wanna be in just didn't require that.

第一句话就问是不是讲粤语。在HSBC不会粤语的人几乎没有，所以曾经在那被主管强烈BS过

我那公司没要求英语面试，我倒是原来没找到工作之前很渴望有英语面试的，可是我读的专业又基本决定我要找的工作用不着英语面试。
