The iF concept award invites young designers worldwide to submit innovative contributions and apply for the sought-after iF award. The iF concept award offers students and recent graduates from the areas of design, architecture, marketing and engineering an opportunity to compare themselves on an international level and to present their ideas to the design-interested public.

Projects can be registered for one of the six categories of the iF concept award. Mainly from a shortlist of 300 pre-selected contributions, an international design expert jury will select the 100 best entries on 3 March 2010 during CeBIT. The most convincing projects out of these 100 will additionally receive a cash prize. Additionally, all award-winning contributions will be published in the iF concept award yearbook, the accompanying documentation for this student competition.

Participation参赛须知
Students of all academic design, architecture, marketing and engineering courses worldwide are invited to submit their concepts to the iF concept award. Both team and individual projects will be accepted. Graduates of these courses can also submit their work if they graduated within the last two years (reference date is the date of registration).

There is no limit to the number of contributions each participant can submit. However, each entry can only be submitted once and only in one category. Participation in the iF concept award is free of charge.

In addition to the registration, all participants are responsible for the costs of sending their competition entries to our logistic partners Kühne & Nagel either via mail or via a forwarding company. The entries must arrive no later than 20 January 2010.

In addition to their registration for the iF concept award 2010, all participants will be asked, after they have registered with my iF, to send a presentation poster as well as a CD for each submitted entry. This presentation poster should serve to represent the essence of the design in the form of description and images. There must be an English version of the description.

The poster should show the following (for examples please see terms of entry PDF, page 5 to 8, on the right hand side of iF concept award startpage):

Poster specifications: 海报要求
  • Format: DIN A1, 84.0 x 59.4 cm
  • Paper weights between 115g - 300g /m2 are acceptable, 170g / m2 is ideal.
  • Print format: ideally digital; and principally a printing method that does not use varnish, oil or silicone
  • The poster should not be board-mounted or mounted to any other material and should not be laminated.

All participants are asked to save the following data on a CD to be sent with the poster:
  • Poster: a copy of the presentation poster in PDF file format with a resolution of 200 dpi and a size of DIN A1.
  • Images: 2-3 print-ready images of the design in a high-resolution format: TIFF, JPG (highest quality) or EPS (300 dpi at 100% positioning, CMYK at a size of approx. 120 x 120 mm). The images should not contain any text. The images must also be identified with "entry-ID_project title_No".
  • Proof of enrolment (a scan of your student identity card will suffice). If you are a graduate, please provide proof that you graduated within the last 2 years (scan or photo of your graduation certificate). If you hand in a team project, please provide proof of enrolment for each team member.
  • Participants who wish to present their project in the form of movies or videos must provide a link to these items with their registration. If this link is handed in at a later date, it will not be subject to evaluation by the jury. This link should also be provided on the submitted presentation poster, the application must be PC compatible and the movie or video must not be longer than three minutes.

注册证明(学生证扫描)如果已毕业,请提交可验证你毕业未满两年的凭证(扫描毕业证书)。若为团队作品务必提交各成员入学证明扫描件。

以视频或录影片段作为作品形式的参赛者需提供项目标注有注册资料的下载链接。最后期限内提交下载链接者评审将不受理。提交视频者需同时提交陈述说明海报,视频需适于电脑播放且不超于三分钟。


Multiple contributions can be sent to iF in one consignment. All submitted concepts as well as product and shipping packaging must be labeled with the entry-ID and the category number. Additionally, contributions must be packed safely so as not to damage the presentation poster. Ideally, cardboard tubes, solid envelopes or boxes should be used. Posters must not be folded or bent.

The jury reserves the right to change the category of a submission. This will not affect a product's chance of receiving an award.

Use my iF to register for this competition. The link to my iF is located in the upper right hand corner below the my iF dice on all pages of this website.

Jury
As a first step, an initial jury will select the best 300 entries out of all submissions. Participants will be informed via email if they have been selected for this shortlist. At CeBIT, a second jury of international experts will discuss and evaluate all submitted entries, but specifically the 300 shortlisted entries in a one-day jury session. During this process, it will become clear which 100 young designers have met the criteria of outstanding design quality with their products. These will be the "best 100" of the iF concept award who will be specially presented in the exhibition. The most outstanding out of these 100 will additionally receive a cash prize. There will be a total prize money of EUR 30,000. The jury will decide on the distribution of this money.

If a jury member is directly connected to one of the contributions, they are no longer allowed to vote. The decision of the jury is legally binding. Legal recourse is excluded.

All successful contributions to iF competitions will receive the iF logo, and are entitled to use this logo for commercial purposes. An iF award not only signifies outstanding achievements in design, but also ensures that the universities of the award winners will receive points in the iF ranking university.iF concept award yearbook
The iF concept award yearbook, a comprehensive and attractive documentation, is a constant and important part of the competition. All award-winning contributions to the iF concept award 2010 will be published including images and a description in English. This excellent publication serves as a reference book the world over and thus constitutes a first-class advertising tool for each participant. Each participant will receive a free copy. The iF concept award yearbook will be published at the beginning of June 2010.if concept award exhibition
All contributions will be presented in a special exhibition at CeBIT from 2 - 6 March 2010. iF online exhibition
With some 3.5 million page views per month, the iF website is one of the most popular design platforms on the Internet. Visitors from over 100 countries come to find information about the iF competitions. All award-winning contributions will be represented with up to two images and a description in the iF online exhibition on the iF website. This exhibition is not limited in duration.

iF ranking
The universities of the award winners of the iF concept award will receive points in the iF ranking university. The basis for the iF ranking is formed by all iF competitions run throughout the last three years. The iF ranking is updated after each new awards ceremony. The universities of the award winners can request the logo for the iF ranking university. Universities and award winners can use this logo in their commercial communication.Dates日程
