2 u7 N9 }% }: n2 O7 ^+ eThe PhD programme in Information Systems offered by the School of Information Systems (SIS) at SMU was
9 D5 h* C' A' t- [* @, b4 lestablished in 2006. It is scheduled as a 4-year study. There are currently 32 PhD students in the programme
& a6 a: g- V- E! C7 v7 R8 S% Ofocusing on different research areas. The programme welcomes all candidates with a solid academic background
! j0 b9 C* t6 u2 Y: R3 Cand the potential to tackle complex real-world problems. It aims to produce PhD graduates who are equipped
with critical analysis and creative thinking skills and have the expertise and passion at the intersection of IT and
' H/ l3 c& Q- T3 @2 k( Wbusiness, capable of addressing deep technology challenges in real information systems and developing tools
5 H. u& x5 q+ s5 |% X6 qand methodologies to impact business processes and management.
Research
Our PhD students will be trained to work across research areas, through applied research projects and a broad
- ?: m7 {! @2 @. H$ Jand deep curriculum covering Software Systems, Information Security & Trust, Data Management & Analytics,
Intelligent Systems & Decisions Analytics, and Information Systems & Management.
) Y, @: E2 f, _The research in Software Systems area aims for impactful methodologies and tools for building and maintaining
7 A5 v! W& z3 qefficient, reliable, usable software. Research projects cover various topics in software engineering, including
2 [8 `$ g/ P9 h5 B3 oautomated testing & debugging, program analysis, code clone detection, specification mining, reverse
; g% q5 H* Y7 [6 wengineering, mobile computing, distributed systems, human-computer interactions, and economic effects of
software development processes. We encourage world-class applied research with holistic and innovative views,
  ~8 I/ Q9 N4 @" ]2 X8 W2 w% [, Tworking with real, large datasets and industrial platforms, addressing real-world problems, and building
* ^7 t, T/ w- O% W$ {" tpractically usable technology solutions.
Financial supports
The PhD programme provides full scholarships for all full-time PhD students on a competitive basis. Subject to
satisfactory progress, a scholarship holder will receive waiver of registration fees and tuition fees in addition to a
7 a) p" }$ y: o; |/ ^5 Q! vmonthly living stipend (between S$2000 to S$3000). Students may also receive additional funding through
. b) `( ~- l6 Q) yresearch assistantship (RA), teaching assistantship (TA), or industry grants. Foreign students who choose to selffinance
their studies can also choose to pay tuition fees at a subsidized fee rate, but will need to work in
7 d! O% y5 R5 B+ r' `) TSingapore based companies for three years after graduation.

-主要研究方向：软件工程、程序分析、软件挖掘、软件自动测试、软件安全。
