% w) b: l  l2 f; o1 c9 @The PhD programme in Information Systems offered by the School of Information Systems (SIS) at SMU was
established in 2006. It is scheduled as a 4-year study. There are currently 32 PhD students in the programme
focusing on different research areas. The programme welcomes all candidates with a solid academic background
% ~: u# x/ Y8 Q" L2 o- }. {1 kand the potential to tackle complex real-world problems. It aims to produce PhD graduates who are equipped
with critical analysis and creative thinking skills and have the expertise and passion at the intersection of IT and
; k: Q+ s3 V+ D0 P- k' r8 U3 D5 rbusiness, capable of addressing deep technology challenges in real information systems and developing tools
; \4 k- G( l  }and methodologies to impact business processes and management.

Our PhD students will be trained to work across research areas, through applied research projects and a broad
& X! O9 P! \" X+ o' eand deep curriculum covering Software Systems, Information Security & Trust, Data Management & Analytics,
Intelligent Systems & Decisions Analytics, and Information Systems & Management.
4 b  B7 Y8 g  d: ^( IThe research in Software Systems area aims for impactful methodologies and tools for building and maintaining
efficient, reliable, usable software. Research projects cover various topics in software engineering, including
automated testing & debugging, program analysis, code clone detection, specification mining, reverse
engineering, mobile computing, distributed systems, human-computer interactions, and economic effects of
software development processes. We encourage world-class applied research with holistic and innovative views,

: y, [. k: @4 a4 d  gThe PhD programme provides full scholarships for all full-time PhD students on a competitive basis. Subject to
satisfactory progress, a scholarship holder will receive waiver of registration fees and tuition fees in addition to a
monthly living stipend (between S$2000 to S$3000). Students may also receive additional funding through
research assistantship (RA), teaching assistantship (TA), or industry grants. Foreign students who choose to selffinance
% A. i$ o5 P" Y% y+ H9 ?their studies can also choose to pay tuition fees at a subsidized fee rate, but will need to work in
Singapore based companies for three years after graduation.

一经录用提供全额奖学金：免报名费、学费；每月补助从2000到3000新加坡元不等。

% X3 _' i. y$ P一经录用根据学历可享受每月工资2800-4000元新币（1元新币相当于5元人民币）
