Amanda Rogers has delivered another passionate, hearfelt release featuring her beautiful vocals and haunting piano skills. Recorded at various times within her hectic touring schedule, this EP is a collection of five amazing ballads, three originals and two covers of Radiohead and At The Drive In songs. Catch this rising star now so you can say you were a fan in the beginning!
I've been an enormous fan of Ms. Rogers' since I first discovered her in January, at a show no less. Every release of hers blows me away, her songwriting talent is just unheard of for someone so young. Such amazing vocals, so hushed and sincere. I found this EP by nothng short of a miracle (at a Hastings in the middle of Kansas. Craziness.) and promptly threw my body at it. It completed my collection, though honestly, that's about all it really did for me. The three originals were decent, but recorded sporadically and in pieces over periods of up to several years, and the final product shows it. (Maybe it doesn't help that it was mixed on a tour bus during Warped Tour over the summer?) Lyrically each song is up to par, but each song simple suffers from unevenness of production. The covers certainly are interesting, especially the opening "1980," originally by At the Drive-In. But there just isn't enough to this record to make me feel it was truly worth it to even release, and this from a die-hard fan. A few more songs would have been nice, five songs at nineteen minutes just felt stunted

             Bye Bye是MIST乐队的新专辑，来自荷兰阿姆斯特丹的梦一般的幻想曲，DREAM-POP团体。在上张专辑We Should Have Been Stars发行之后，热切的期待中迎来这张新专辑，依旧是充满亲切质感的流行曲，同时得到了国际领域的赞赏。
          这张专辑于2004年秋录制(2005年在51mpc.com网站上介绍)，在AMSTEL河畔的一个专属MIST AND ACUTE的私人排练间完成的。像上张专辑一样，由ASTRO唱片发行，其中收藏14首独具MIST气质另类曲目，优美的旋律中透着MIST的感伤情怀。2005年1月专辑的混音部分完成，由MARTIN GROENEVELD在UTRECHT的MAILEN工作室中监制完成。MAILEN由于与诸多艺人的合作而闻名，包括This Beautiful Mess, At the Close of Everyday, J. Perkin (Solo), Black Strap, Face Tomorrow, Dreadlock Pussy and Magnusson arrived from Fjörnebo 。BYE BYE是由ALAN WARD主力操刀在布鲁塞尔的Electric City 工作室录制。而专辑封套的包装是由著名摄影师Wijnanda Deroo制作的（www.wijnandaderoo.com）几年中，MIST已经成为南非与欧洲的独立音乐舞台中一支重要的团体。2004年，乐队由创作型歌手RICKTREFFERS组建，之后又在西班牙，德国，法国与挪威进行了巡回演出，也曾赴阿根廷与智利访问演出。上张专辑We Should Have Been Stars 是由德国的Tumbleweed 唱片， 墨西哥与智利的的ASTRO唱片合作发行，另外有一首特意为南美市场制作的曲目，由Quemasucabeza唱片发行。现在的MIST与其他知名团体The The, Spain, Nits, The Posies齐头并进，与他们衷爱的唱片合作伙伴Spain Schwarz, Lansbury, Holywater and Ya te Digo一道，共同在这个音乐舞台里共创辉煌。

Recorded near the southwestern corner of Tennessee with session men named \"Flick\" and Teenie, this song is Chan Marshall\'s Dusty in Memphis moment-- an indisputable union of voice and style. Her whispery creaks find solace within the track\'s natural impressions, swept along by lazy strings, pitter-pat drums, and wafts of guitar. Never forced, the sound rises like long shadows on a lonely weed-cracked sidewalk.
Still, this is Cat Power. The song title is brilliantly misleading, a set-up for images of uncanny tragedy. \"Once I wanted to be the greatest,\" she muses. \"And then came the rush of the flood/ Stars at night turned you to dust.\" Hidden somewhere between the song\'s eloquent sway: There is no easy way down.
The long awaited new album from one of the most powerful voices and minds of her generation or any other, \'You Are Free\' marks Chan Marshall\'s first album of original material in nearly four years. Achingly beautiful and carefully crafted, \'You Are Free\' is most assuredly not easy listening. Great albums rarely are.

2005 is looking likely to be remembered as the year of the piano. With countless artists tickling the ivoriesand Michael Nyman\'s back catalogue getting the attention it deserves, the piano has become the weapon of choice for the more mellow-headed leftfield. The latest to join the Liberace list is Swedish duo Library Tapes, whose debut album \'Alone In The Bright Lights Of A Shattered Life\' lists Max Richter, Lunz and A Silver Mt. Zion as amongst their influences. Comprised of piano, acoustic/electric guitars, balalaika and the a trusty laptop, \'Alone In The Bright Lights...\' seems to exist in a distant tundra, with the listener coaxed into embarking on a hugely rewarding journey. Whilst the stiff melodies of opening composition \'Broken Piano Pt.2\' are draftily satisfying, it is \'...in a safe place...somewhere near your heart...\' that really establishes their sound. Not unlike a William Basinski piece, \'In a safe place...\' takes an emotionally wrought piano and allows it to languidly meander over a stirring landscape of half-glimpsed sonic sturctures and soundscapes that can\'t help but make an emotional impact on this listener.

In publishing, we are told, timing is everything. This has the ring of truth to it; certainly, Dan Brown would be living a very different life right now if The Da Vinci Code had been sent to the printers a century ago! Likewise, it\'s possible that Atheist Lovesongs to God arrived in the hands of a Christian-turned-agnostic at almost the precise point at which that momentous change took place. Or perhaps Jason Merritt is really as good as he seems -- right now, yesterday, and tomorrow, regardless of who\'s listening. In any case, his spare, evocative country folk sound is captivating. Tense, ghostly, absorbing and creepy as hell, Whip\'s music will give you good reason to brood, even if you\'re not in the middle of a philosophical crisis.
Atheist Lovesongs to God, as a title, is an unsubtle hint at the issues over which Merritt -- who fronts like-sounding folk act Timesbold when he\'s feeling less reclusive -- wrings his hands throughout the disc. While Merritt has a predilection for cryptic metaphor, a sense of existential angst pervades his songs and communicates the concepts that prosaic turns of phrase often do not. He\'s at least as conflicted as his album title suggests, and it\'s driving him nuts.
