Art of fight（简写为afo）,澳大利亚的indie/postrock四人团。乐队95年成立于悉尼，其初始成员包括乐队的核心，吉它手/主音olllie browne和贝司手peggy frew，此外还有鼓手cam grant。在录制了几张自制的小样之后，乐队及其作品也开始受到关注。1998年，悉尼本地唱片公司half of a cow发行了aof的第一张EP《the very strange year》，制作人是nick carrol。其实，在发行此张EP之前，aof的两首歌曾被收录在au go go records1997年发行的合辑《wonder from a quarter acre》之中，这可能是乐队为引起关注所做尝试中唯一成功的一次。
不过，随着98年底这张EP的发行，aof开始成为各电台播音的喜好乐队之一，和受关注程度同时增长的还包括他们的巡演机会。99年伊始， aof和另两支澳洲的indie组合pollyanna、bluebottle kiss沿澳大利亚东海岸各州做了为期半年的漫长巡演，同时aof还得到了在adelaide的音乐工业评论奖的现场演出机会，乐队及其《the very stange year》在此次评比中同时获得了最佳新人和最佳EP两项提名。
同年6月，nick caroll开始着手录制aof的第二张EP《empty nights》。在这张同样由六支歌曲组成的mini-album中，仍然可以听到乐队一贯的优美和内敛，在巡演和评比中所得到的承认也使乐队有更多余裕来关注作品的旋律和主题。olllie的哥哥miles作为吉它手/小号手参与了这张EP的录制并成为aof的正式成员之一。
